Windsor Castle

I went to Windsor Castle today for a little jolly outing.

It was a bit freezy cold and cloudish, so I didn't take many pictures.

I certainly didn't take this one . . .

But it was a fun day out. Huzzah for castles!

mexican food fiesta

Once upon a time . . .



I packed my little bags,

went for a ride on a very big plane,



and then stuffed my face with a big, fat burrito.

What a very happy day that was!

Huzzah for Mexican food!

Huzzah for Hedgehogs!

I had another lovely day out . . .

There were fantastic flowers,

beautiful butterflies,

and cool creatures to feed and play with.




There was even a Hedgehog Play Trail!

The trail was lots of fun for all

and, of course, the story had a happy hedgehog ending.

Early one morning

I was in central London super early this morning and I met a friend for a hearty walk. We saw lots of interesting things. How many places, objects and/or activities do you recognise?

Huzzah for London and for getting up early on a sunny day!

I love London

There were many wonderful sights in central London today.

I viewed Trafalgar Square from the air!

Well . . . at least I saw this cool model in the National Gallery. It shows how Trafalgar Square used to look in olden times before London Mayor Ken Livingstone pedestrianised the north terrace and built the new central stone staircase.




I had a front row view for Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace. It's always worth watching. Huzzah for British pageantry and tradition!

I even got to see the tube (London Underground) as it should always be - empty and shiny bright. If only it looked like this more often, instead of cluttered with people, their luggage, and the ever-present discarded free newspapers.

I love London!

I went for a run today!

At the seaside

I had a lovely day at the seaside, catching up with old friends.

We went to an old-fashioned sweet shop, and I managed to resist temptation!

We went shopping for shoes - and again I resisted temptation!

I even managed to resist the splendid set of five Elvis dolls (hand painted)!
It was such a bargain too at only £29.99!



I was even able to resist singing this song:

A very happy day

What a happy day this was! It started with my favourite kind of breakfast at Janet's Montana Cafe. The veggie scramble was perfect, the potatoes were delicious and there was even some homemade peach salsa. I did attempt to share the salsa with my breakfast companions but somehow I ended up accidentally scoffing the lot - oops!

Then after some snoozy time just sitting in the sun, it was time for a hearty walk. This meant a short stroll through a new neighbourhood . . . and a chance for me to have a peek at other people's homes and gardens. I do so enjoy a good old snoop around, even if I have to stay on the outside of the fence.


The hearty walk got a lot heartier as we climbed up what seemed to be a very big mountain. I tried my best, but I'm definitely not as fit as I should be. Maybe this is connected to my total lack of exercise and ongoing love affair with the sofa?

I finally made it to the top. Even though it was almost Christmas, I wore a hat to keep the hot sun off my face and was plenty warm enough in my festive t-shirt.

When we got back home again, it was time for hot tea and more food.
I love food.

In the evening we went for a lovely walk around an extremely festive neighbourhood. Almost every home was decorated. The themes range from traditional Nativity scenes, to SpongeBob Squarepants (a popular cartoon character), but somehow it all comes together as a lovely event which is shared by the local community and visited by lots and lots of 'outsiders'- like us.

Then it was time to head for home, fortified for the journey by my favourite Mexican food. Once the food was ready, there just wasn't time to stop for photos - so here's a picture of the aftermath instead.

Old shoes

I took this photo way back in August 2004, when my shoes were old but the patio was new.

Today the patio looks a little older and has moss growing between the paving stones. The shoes are mostly unchanged.

I love this picture. I can still feel the August sun shining on our lovely new patio, and remember how happy we were to have a useable outdoor space at last.

Breakfast of champions

After a hard night's work, what could be finer than a full English breakfast?

Note: how the bearded gentleman is passing the HP Sauce onto another diner . . . or perhaps he is re-applying the HP after having restricted his sauce levels on the first attempt?

I usually prefer my full breakfast to include fried mushrooms. I'm also not convinced that chips/fries or hash browns are traditional items - but who cares?! Huzzah for fried breakfasts in all of their many varieties!

Try-athlon: 5k run

Here we are looking super-fit and ready to run. Despite having only been for a few training runs together, we were ready to give our all to this event.

What a splendid medal! No, I didn't win the race - everyone who finished the run was given an identical medal.

A big Thank You to my running companion for persuading me to enter this race and for being so keen about our training runs. Huzzah for running, for friendship, and for fitness!

Kew Gardens

I went for a super day out at Kew Gardens today. The weather was warm and sunny.

There was so much natural loveliness to see. Plus, I could get in for free with my bubble land pass - huzzah!

I must try to visit here Moore often!
