Silver Serenade

The dear old Pinkies had their 25th Anniversary Concert tonight, and it was great. The singing was fantastic - actually surpassing their usual extremely high standards - and the choreography was utterly splendid!

Well done Pinkies - you're fabulous!

Pink Pride

Here are some of the dear old Pinkies singing today at London Pride. They were originally formed to sing at a Pride event here 25 years ago. Yes, they were here twenty five years ago - can you Adam and Eve it?

I haven't got any more pictures of the Pinkies at Pride 2008, so instead let's play "I-Spy". Can you spot me in the following pictures?

Clue: I'm often on the right- hand side.

Paris in December - Ooh La La!

Oh, how I love Paris . . .

The wide avenues,

and the narrow streets.

The exciting underground 'Metro' railway - which always seems strangely familiar.

The stalls of exotic foreign clothing . . .
so very unlike the bowler hats and pin-striped suits we wear in London.

I believe some cultures refer to these ghastly 'meat-in-a-pitta-bread' snacks as 'doner kebabs', while elsewhere they are known as 'giros'.

I'll stick with my finely-cut cucumber sandwiches, thank you very much.

Much as I love shopping for shoes, I did manage to resist the urge to buy anything from this shop window display.

Unfortunately, I was unable to resist all of my urges . . .

Yes, this was a genuine loo - in a night club (oo-er!) - and yes I did use it!

Hen-tastic

This weekend, I finally got to participate in the splendidly bizarre ritual that is known as a Hen Night. I think the US equivalent is a bachelorette party?

We met outside Burger King in Piccadilly Circus (setting a classy tone straight away) and began to festoon ourselves. I was lucky enough to receive a whistle and a beer mug - both as necklaces on sparkly chains. I also got my devil's horns (to get me in the horny mood?) and a delightful sash which declared that we were 'chicks on tour'.

Here I am with the happy Hen (she's the one with wings).

It took a while for me to get really horny - who knew that there was a knack to wearing these things?! I'm looking a bit more alert in this picture.

A splendid time was had by all. Although I didn't attend the afternoon sauna or late-night pub & club section of the Hen Night, I've heard that those events were also highly enjoyable for the participants.

I enjoyed parading through Central London in my sash and other decorations, obviously. However, there was an even greater delight to come. . .
for the first time, I had a dessert at Wagamama. It was this ice cream thing. It was absolutely fantastic! I could barely contain my pleasure in tasting it and was torn between shovelling it down asap (in my usual 'at home' eating style) and actually savouring the flavour in a gourmet food-tasting kind of way. I think I managed something in between.

I appreciate that in the picture it doesn't look nearly as good as it tasted. So for the chocoholics among you (and there are many) I include this unrelated Wagamama dessert.

I will also take this opportunity to announce that, contrary to all my previous statements, I do like mango. Thank you.

Pride London 2007

Not really a beautiful summer day. It rained and rained. All day long.

Also, there was a major security alert - caused by recent terrorist attacks.

But despite this, it was still a great day. I got to meet a 'sleb from Dr Who.

The Pinkies sang on the main stage . . . with Captain Jack! From Dr Who!!

Plus, what's more fun than snuggling up together under the same brolly?

Huzzah for diversity and tolerance!

Points mean prizes!

I took part in a super treasure hunt this weekend. On a lovely morning, our intrepid team set out to find the Treasure . . .

and, after a splendid effort from all, I am proud to announce that we won! There were even prizes - woo hoo!

This achievement was a well deserved reward for our excellent and highly motivated performance.

However, I have heard rumours that some people feel I was a little bit too motivated to win. Perhaps even a tiny bit too competitive. Me?

So just to counteract these unwarranted slurs on my good character, here are some photos showing the utter cheeriness of the event.

Here is the team relaxing and posing for photos. Note that some of us are even having a nice sit down.

Here we are enjoying a lovely picnic as we hurry across the wobbly bridge. We remained stationary for the entire time I was taking this photo.

Here we are at the end - giddy with success and all still smiling.

Well done team mates - I salute your efforts! Huzzah for treasure hunts!

Oh dear. Here I am yet again, making an exhibition of myself in a public place.

In both of these photos we're singing 'Diamonds Are Forever' - the James Bond theme song.

Live at Charing Cross Station. . .

Whoops! We were overcome with a sudden spontaneous outburst of singing!

Performing in London

Don't we look gorgeous in our formal attire?

This is our big 'jazz hands' finale. With every new concert our choreography just keeps on getting better and better!
