very penny hel
During a visit to the Museum of London Docklands today, I saw this unusual box-shaped exhibit.
I went to take a closer look and soon realised that it was a donation box.

I'm not even making any of this up!
I went to take a closer look and soon realised that it was a donation box.

Aha! The box obviously had "please donate" written in a different language on each side.
Probably "very penny hel" was some kind of Scandinavian language?
But no, the truth was actually far less complicated . . .

I'm not even making any of this up!

goose
I fed the ducks today.
There were a few ducks, but mostly they were geese. I was brave enough to hand feed the geese - letting them eat from the palm of my hand.
In previous goose encounters, I've been too scared that they might peck at my fingers very hard in a big old goosey way, but today I faced my fear and did it anyway!

However my triumph was short lived, as a park ranger came over to ask me to stop feeding them, because bread is very bad for ducks and geese. I think I knew this already, but I hadn't totally grasped how much of a problem it is for the birds and for their habitat.
So . . . no more feeding the birds with bread then.
Who's going to tell the geese though?
