I am fully refurbished!

Today was the final day of my college course. The purpose of this government-funded course was to polish my (rusty) skills in dealing with the tiny people, as I've been away from their realm for a while now. I've also been making regular visits to a local tiny folk habitat and have had some splendid sand-handling opportunities, which were featured in a recent post.

I learned some interesting new ideas related to a subject called 'food technology' which I have had some experience of in the past. This seemed very similar to 'cooking' - which I have also had previous experiences with. Allegedly.




Being a student again was lots of fun. The dress code was refreshingly informal.

Going to the university campus for my college-based sessions was like a day out to the countryside for a 'townie' like me.



The teaching resources were top quality too . . .

Springtime is here (?)


The daffodils are blooming and so I thought that Spring had finally arrived.

But then it snowed today - can you Adam and Eve it?!

Well I'd thought it had been such a quiet week . . .

just my usual bubbling



and a little bit of playing in the sand.



But then I got on the tube tonight

and there were "circumstances beyond our control".


Which meant a very long wait somewhere in the tunnel system.

For 90 minutes.

Instead of a 10 minute journey.

Oh dear.

Game On!

Last week I dashed into the video game exhibition at bubble land to have my last fix of Missile Command before it disappears.

I played this video game loads during the early/mid 1980s. However, I think the very first time that I actually read the instructions was today when I was writing this entry.

I can't believe the smart missiles were only worth 125 points when they were so very hard to destroy . . .

Three new kinds of herring!

I had a super trip to IKEA today. It was fab! There were hardly any other shoppers (by IKEA standards) and everything was all shiny and bright. The shop itself is all upstairs. It's built over a big, clean and well-lit car park - so convenient on a rainy day.


The entrance hall was so shiny and lovely that I had feeling of real contentment - it was the same way I feel when visiting a wonderful old building or outdoor place of great beauty. But despite this sense of peace, my heart began to beat faster as I thought of the shopping joy that lay ahead for me. . .

There was loads of loveliness in the store. One of the things I liked the most was this transparent extension cord. I loved being able to see all the metal thingies inside which connected all the parts together. Although, I did then start wondering how you could use this in an educational setting with tiny people who are just learning about circuits. Oh dear.

All in all it was a splendid day out. Plus with my new 'IKEA family' discount card, I can have unlimited free tea and coffee whenever I visit the store(Mon- Fri only). Huzzah for shopping and for free cups of tea!

I went on a lovely river cruise yesterday . . .


Tower Bridge was as splendid as ever.


London Bridge was a strange colour - it's part of a festival of lights.


It looks like the London Eye is part of the light festival too.


Then it was time to head home for a nice hot cup of tea. Westminster tube station is very shiny. If only the tube was this empty during weekdays.

It snowed again today, but unfortunately there was no time before work for me to build a snowman . . .



But on my way to work, I did see these chilly flowers shivering amidst the snow.

My social life is back on track!

In recent weeks, it's been so winterly that I've hardly felt like going out dancing in my sparkly shoes and sequinned top. Mainly I've been staying on the sofa with a nice hot cup of tea.

In fact, I've been wondering if my social life has disappeared into the Twilight Zone.

So imagine the excitement of me actually going out to see a live band! Two of the musicians were friends from bubble land and a full crowd of bubble folk came out to support the band.



It was a toe-tapping night of top entertainment!
