Try-athlon

I am happy to announce an exciting new sporting event for us all to enjoy:

1st Annual International Try-athlon

Athletes of all ages and abilities will be participating in this splendid spectacle – and YOU can be one of these international athletes.

You can participate in any way and at any time, choosing from the usual triathlon disciplines of running, swimming and cycling.

Running: you might choose to run, jog, power walk or perhaps just do a very brisk walk round the park. Some athletes might choose to complete a marathon, one mile at a time, over 26+ consecutive days.

Swimming: you might choose to swim for a set time or distance, or perhaps go to water aerobics class for a set number of times. Sliding down the curly water slide several times is not an acceptable event – unless the stairs are very high up indeed.

Cycling: you might choose to cycle for a set time or distance. Or perhaps repeat a shorter journey several times. Athletes may participate using bicycles, tricycles, unicycles or wheelchairs. Unfortunately activities for users of skateboards, roller-skates, ice-skates, scooters and strollers/buggies/push-chairs cannot be accepted as cycling events.

My events - I’m doing an organised 5K run (stagger), an organised 9 mile bike ride (wobble) and something sporty in water as yet undetermined.

The idea behind this is that YOU have a go:

Try to take some exercise
Try your best
And, if at first you don’t succeed, try again.

Hopefully, I'll also raise some money for charity. This year I'm supporting guide dogs for the blind:
